JAKARTA,Indonesia—Some of the well-known firms worldwide that are based in Singapore are now expressing their interest to hire Filipino workers, Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Sec. Toots Ople said.
In a press briefing ahead of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s meet-and-greet with the Filipino community, Ople bared “good news” that Facebook Singapore is hiring Filipino workers “for the first time.”
Grab Singapore is also doing the same, she added.
“Facebook has requested for accreditation as an employer, which speaks a lot about the excellence of our Filipino IT professionals. And Grab Singapore, another multinational brand, is also keen on hiring from us,” she told reporters here Sunday.
Singapore is also interested in hiring Filipino health care workers.
Ople bared “there are ongoing talks” between DMB and Ministry of Health of Singapore after the latter reached out to them to express their desire “to explore ways of recruiting or hiring more of our health workers for employment in Singapore.”
“The talks are not yet done as well as the documents that we need to sign, but possibly (this will be done) through a government-to-government arrangement,” she said.
