The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is expected to print 91.5 million ballots for the December 2022 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan polls.
"If it pushes through, voters for the barangay elections will reach 67,061,585. As for the SK voters, which is composed of the 15 to 17 years old and the 18 to 30, it will reach 24,457,363," Comelec Acting Spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco said in a radio program.
"All in all, we will be printing 91,518,958," he added.
Laudiangco explained why the ballots they will be printing for the BSKE is higher than the last May 9 polls.
"It's more than the May elections because the SK voters, the 18 to 30 years old, will receive two ballots, one for regular barangay and SK," he said.
The poll official said they expect to start the printing at the National Printing Office (NPO) in Quezon City not later than mid-September.
"We need to finish it because we still need to check the ballots...we need to allot time to check and verify if the ballots are correct," said Laudiangco.
He said they need to check if the ballot has smudges or it has a wrong spelling among others.
"Factoring all these, printing, verification, deployment, we should start mid September," Laudiangco said.
