BuCor warns anew vs solicitations posted in fake social media accounts

The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) cautioned the public anew against fake social media accounts which solicit monetary and other contributions.

It said that Bucor’s only social media account is https://www.facebook.com/piobucorofficial.

“If you were contacted or had any transaction with fake accounts or found any similar incident, please inform us immediately by calling our hotline at 84783597 or email us at [email protected],” it said.

BuCor’s social media account “posts all the announcements, news and updates of all offices in the National Headquarters of BuCor, including the announcements and updates of the seven Penal and Prison Farms (PPF).”

“The Bureau, under the guidance of the Director General Gerald Q. Bantag, ensures to provide public information with credibility and integrity,” it said.

Last April, it said it discovered fake BuCor social media accounts that have been asking for solicitations.

“DG Bantag nor any other senior BuCor officials will not SOLICIT any money or goods using this organization,” it said.

It then urged the public to report to the agency any solicitations being made from persons claiming to be from the agency.
