The Covid-19 positivity rates in Metro Manila and nine other areas continued to exceed the 5 percent threshold set by the World Health Organization (WHO), according to the latest monitoring of the OCTA Research Group.

In an update shared on Twitter on July 1, OCTA fellow Dr. Guido David said that Covid positivity rates have further increased in the following areas:

Metro Manila — 7.5 percent on June 29 from 6.0 percent on June 25

Batangas — 6.6 percent from 5.6 percent

Benguet — 6.0 percent from 3.2 percent

Bulacan — 4.0 percent from 2.9 percent

Cavite — 13.2 percent from 5.9 percent

Cebu — 3.5 percent from 2.8 percent

Davao del Sur — 3.3 percent from 2.1 percent

Iloilo — 6.9 percent from 5.7

Laguna — 8.8 percent from 7.6 percent, and

Pampanga — 7.7 percent from 5.9 percent.

Positivity rate refers to the number of individuals who yielded positive results from among those who were tested for Covid-19.

According to the benchmark set by the WHO, the positivity rate should remain below 5 percent to ensure that Covid infections are contained.
