Baler in the province of Aurora has been one of the favorite vacation destinations of celebrities especially those who love surfing. Actress Andi Eigenmann used to visit Baler before she fell in love with Siargao. Young celebrities Andrea Brillantes and Elmo Magalona were recently spotted taking surfing lessons in the beach of Baler. Actor Victor Silayan has put up a coffee shop in the area while his fellow actor Ian Ignacio regularly surfs there. (so dapat maexperience ko rin yan!)
Last weekend my forever travel buddy, Bryan and I decided to visit the place. We invited some friends from DOH-TRC to join us, nurses Norman, Jerwin, Kat, Joey and Joris and social workers, Klyde and Lovel. (so nagfeeling celebrity surfers kami ganyan!)
We travelled for almost six hours. (with matching zigzag road in some areas ha!) Our first stop was San Luis, Aurora. Joris (na certified Aurora girl) and her family welcomed us (with matching food and accommodation). We immediately went to Diteki River to swim (ang linaw ng tubig) and grill fresh seafoods. (so langoy at lamon kami!) The next day, we visited the Ditumabo Mother Falls (walang kinalaman si Mother Lily o Mother Ricky Reyes ha!) We were amazed by the clean waters, gigantic rocks and enchanting trees. (dinaig ang engkantadia ha!)
We reserved our last two days for the most exciting part. (yan kasi ang bilin ni Jodi Sta. Maria!) We explored the beauty of Baler. We spent the whole day in Diguisit Beach that has big rock formations. They charge minimal entrance fee and rental fee for the cottages. (pwede baon, pwede rin ihaw-ihaw!) We even had a special treat here because we enjoyed the music from a nearby beach wedding.
But what we really enjoyed was the surfing in Sabang Beach. This is the most famous beach in Baler. Tourists will definitely enjoy the view and vibe of the whole beach because commercial establishments and accommodations were built meters away from the shore. (may bakod pa ha kaya ang lawak ng dagat!)It has no entrance fee since it is a public beach. Expect clean water, fine sand and of course enormous waves! (yung pangmalakasan ha!) Resident surfer JayR Ontong (na naging guest ko sa WTFu noon!) was gracious to invite his fellow surfers Raven and Kape to teach Bryan and I how to surf.
Thank you San Luis and Baler for the experience, we will be back especially for the surfing!
