The Covid-19 positivity rates in Metro Manila and eight other provinces in the country have continued to increase over the past week, OCTA fellow Dr. Guido David said on Monday, June 27.

David, in an update shared on Twitter, showed that as of June 25, the Covid positivity rates in Metro Manila (5.9 percent), Batangas (5.6 percent), Cagayan (5.8 percent), Cavite (6.0 percent), Iloilo (5.7 percent), Laguna (7.5 percent), Pampanga (5.9 percent), Rizal (11.9 percent), and South Cotabato (7.4 percent) have exceeded the 5 percent benchmark recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Metro Manila’s positivity rate has been above the 5 percent WHO-recommended rate since June 22.

Positivity rate refers to the number of individuals who yielded positive results from among those who were tested for Covid-19.

According to the benchmark set by the WHO, the positivity rate should remain below 5 percent to ensure that Covid infections are contained.
