Duterte leads turnover ceremony of housing project in Davao City

Outgoing President Duterte on Thursday led the turnover ceremony of a housing project in Davao City and expressed hope that the same initiative would be continued by the next administration.

The project called Madayaw Residences "is only one of the many housing projects pursued by the administration" over the past six years, Duterte said in his speech.

The initiative was prompted by the government's "commitment to providing adequate, safe, secure, habitable, sustainable, resilient, and affordable homes to the Filipino people," he added.

Duterte said he tried his best to provide free housing for everyone, even the communists, but "the problem is there is no time left" for him as an outgoing leader.

Beneficiaries of the more than 600 units were various uniformed service units as well as members of government agencies and overseas Filipino workers.
