Duterte trusts next gov't to continue war vs drugs

President Duterte said Monday, June 6, he is putting his trust in the next administration to continue his fight against illegal drugs, otherwise "we are finished as a nation."

Duterte expressed his warning in a meeting with his Cabinet members as he aired concern that "everything goes wrong" that "there is no more right momentum for us."

"I trust that the next administration will also do its very best to confront itong (the problem with) drugs. Kasi 'pag hindi, magpatayan tayo ulit (Otherwise, we will end up killing each other again)," he said.

The outgoing President also said he is confident that the police and the military "will not allow the drug people to prevail."

This came as he advised the law enforcers not to be intimidated by the powerful drug personalities.

"'Yan lang ang maiwan ko sa inyo... Kung intimidate nila ang lahat, magtago, walang mangyari sa bayang ito (That's the only advice I can leave. If they will intimidate everybody and everybody will hide, nothing will happen to the country)," Duterte said.

"Do not be afraid to confront this evil called shabu," he said.
