Twenty-one more persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) were released from the Davao Prison and Penal Farm (DPPF) in Davao del Norte last May 22.

From last May 1 to 11, DFFP freed 68 qualified PDLs. Of those released, 18 of them had been acquitted of their criminal charges.

The new releases, DPPF said in its Facebook post, included PDLs who had served their maximum jail terms and had been granted good conduct time allowance (GCTA).

The law on GCTA grants good conduct credits that shorten the time of maximum detention of a PDL.

Also, from last May 1 to 11, the several prison facilities of the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) released a total of 164 PDLs.

Those freed included 96 PDLs from the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City; 27, Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong City; three, Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm (SPPF) in Occidental Mindoro; 17, San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm (SRPPF) in Zamboanga City; six, Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF) in Palawan; and 15, Leyte Regional Prison (LRP) in Abuyog, Leyte.
