President Duterte has signed laws for the establishment of cultural centers in three provinces in the country.
Republic Act No. 11771 stated the creation of Cagayan de Oro City Cultural Center and Museum in Cagayan de Oro City in Misamis Oriental, while Republic Act No. 11770 greenlighted the establishment of Kalinga Cultural Center and Museum in Kalinga and R.A. 11772 was signed to make way for the building of Biliran Cultural Center and Museum in Biliran.
The laws, all signed on May 24, mandate the compilation of music and lyrics of the traditional songs, ballads and contemporary music compilations of the respective provinces.
The publication and dissemination of their literary works, epics, stories and historical accounts and the compilation of their films, audio-visual recordings of cultural performances are also mandated.
The laws also oblige the respective local governments, in partnership with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), to compile their local epigrams, proverbs, legends and etymology of words; and gather and document their religious practices and traditions.
Concerned offices must collect photographs of and showcase their landmarks, historical sites and scenic views; and gather specimens of their archaeological findings.
Local and traditional music, dances, arts, literary works, epics, stories, historical accounts and legends must also be performed.
