CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna -- A rookie policeman shot dead an amok that stabbed a tricycle driver on Saturday morning in Barangay Ilat North in San Pascual, Batangas.
According to the report reaching Police Regional Office-4A (PRO4A), the suspect was identified as Rolly Axalan, 45, a resident of San Pascual, Batangas.
The police who responded to the incident was identified as Patrolman Jonathan Wee Bacroya of San Pascual Municipal Police Station.
Ambrocio Axalan, a tricycle driver of the same town, told police investigators that around 8:35 a.m., he alighted from his tricycle when the suspect arrived and handed him a kitchen knife.
Ambrocio recounted that the suspect blocked his way going home, and thereafter, a heated argument ensued between them that ignited the suspect to attack him and stab him several times in his left leg.
Bacroya, who was on board his motorcycle on the way for his official duty at the police station, witnessed the incident and tried to pacify and negotiate with the suspect, but the suspect ignored it and continued stabbing the victim.
At this point, Bacroya was prompted to shoot the suspect, hitting the left part of the chest.
The suspect was rushed to Bauan Doctor’s Hospital in Bauan, Batangas but was declared dead upon arrival.
