BuCor frees 232 PDLs

The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) has released 232 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) from its prison facilities nationwide.

BuCor Deputy Director General Gabriel P. Chaclag said most of those released from May 1 to 11 this year were from the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City with 96 PDLs.

Released from the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong City were 27 PDLs; Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm (SPPF) in Occidental Mindoro, three; San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm (SRPPF) in Zamboanga City, 17; Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF) in Palawan, six; Leyte Regional Prison (LRP) in Abuyog, Leyte, 15; and Davao Prison and Penal Farm (DPPF) in Davao del Norte, 68.

Chaclag said 58 of those freed had been acquitted of their criminal charges – 34 from NBP, four from CIW, two from LRP, and 18 from DPPF.

Others released had either served their prison terms, had been granted parole, or had been allowed to post bail, he also said.
