Robin Padilla likely to emerge as top Senate winner


Actor Robin Padilla continued to hold sway in the senatorial derby, based on the partial and unofficial count from the data provided by the transparency server of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to the Manila Bulletin dashboard.

Padilla garnered 25,236,694 votes, and was way ahead of second-placed three-term senator and incumbent House Deputy Speaker Loren Legarda, who got 23,113,392 votes.

As of 3:32 a.m. on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, broadcaster Raffy Tulfo was at third spot with 22,335,103, followed by Senator Sherwin Garchalian with 19,663,338; Sorsogon Governor Chiz Escudero with 19,367,302, and former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Mark Villar with 18,460,306.

In the lower half of the Magic 12, former Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano secured the seventh spot with 18,383,381; Senator Miguel Zubiri in eighth with 17,865,439, and Joel Villanueva next with 17,690,469.

In 10th to 12th spots were JV Ejercito with 15,106,152, Risa Hontiveros with 14,767,411, and Jinggoy Estrada with 14,376,837.

With long shots of making it to the Top 12 were former vice president Jojo Binay at 13th (12,706,290), former Quezon City mayor Herbert Bautista (12,428,879), and former defense secretary Gibo Teodoro (12,084,276).
