This year’s political exercise has so far polarized the nation into two major camps each represented by the colors they chose to don over the entire campaign period: the Leni and Kiko tandem’s pink on one hand, and the BBM-Sara duo’s red and green on the other. Such a color divide has reached and shaded even the already multi-colored world of show business as the country’s most popular celebrities now have to choose which side they’re on.

CELEBRITY KAKAM-PINKS. A political observer says participating in Saturday’s Leni-Kiko Grand Miting de Avance in Makati was like attending the Star Magic Ball, with celebrity A-Listers making their appearances felt. The program’s mood was generally chill, organized and polished, just like a pop concert that befits the mostly middle to upper middle-class crowd that the political tandem usually appeals to.

Ageless Pinoy idol Piolo Pascual expressed his support for Robredo in a sortie in Naga, while also campaigning for his personal choice of partylist group, Ang Probinsyano Party List (APPL).
Star for all Seasons, Vilma Santos-Recto, together with husband Senator Ralph Recto, was seen to have had lunch with Vice President Robredo in Lipa City, Batangas is also said to be a pink supporter.

Those who found themselves Entertainment City bound last Saturday to attend the red and green grand miting de avance likened their gathering to a rock concert: it was loud, fun, vibrant and active. The event screamed: masa, which is generally the market being tapped into by the political tandem. Celebrities who “bravely” wore their colors for the duo included: Willie Revillame, rapper Andrew E, comediennes Aiai delas Alas and Beverly Salviejo, Bayani Agbayani, DJ Loonyo, the singing heartthrobs making up Budakel: Bugoy Drilon, Michael Pangilinan and Daryl Ong; Jason Fernandez; suklay diva Katrina Velarde, concert queen Pops Fernandez, R&B Prince Kris Lawrence, Geneva Cruz, Karla Estrada, Randy Santiago, Philippine theater’s power couple Isay Alvarez and Robert Sena; Lyca Gairanod; musical groups Silent Santuary and South Border, among others; Claudine Barretto, Dulce, Diego Loyzaga, Aiko Melendez, Roderick Paulate and actors-turned politicians Lucy Torrez-Gomez and Richard Gomez.
Drawing the biggest reaction among the BBM-Sara fans was Aegis, the country’s most popular rock band.
Superstar Nora Aunor also went onstage in one of the red and green camp’s rallies to express her support.
Of course, erstwhile Pinoy Big Brother host Toni Gonzaga-Soriano is a regular fixture in BBM-Sara sorties playing host and with her regular renditions of Umagang Kay Ganda, the presidential son’s official anthem for this campaign season.
One of the big stars present during the gathering was caught saying: “Naku, I’m sure bukas maka-cancel na naman ako ng pink netizens for attending today’s miting de avance.”
