Six more persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) were released from the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City last Tuesday, May 3.

The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said that there has been 51 PDLs freed by NBP since last April 21.

The six PDLs released were from the minimum-security compound. They had served their jail terms, BuCor said.

It said the recent releases of PDLs “contributed immensely to the bureau’s program of decongesting jail facilities in the country.”

It noted that BuCor Director General Gerald Q. Bantag has a standing order to facilitate the release of qualified PDLs.

“More future releases of PDLs are expected as concerned units are intensely cooperating to facilitate this endeavor,” it added.
