NBI to arrest, prosecute persons responsible in ‘posted lewd videos’ of VP Leni’s daughters

Justice Secretary Menardo I. Guevarra

Justice Secretary Menardo I. Guevarra on Wednesday, April 27, said he has ordered the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to probe, arrest, and file charges against those responsible for the online spread of the alleged lewd videos and photographs of the second daughter of presidential candidate and Vice President Leni Robredo.

Guevarra said his order was issued to the NBI even before Dr. Janine Patricia “Tricia” Robredo sent a letter dated last April 21 through her legal counsel, lawyer Pinky Barnabe, asking the NBI to investigate the posts of lewd photos and videos.

The same order was also issued to the NBI days before Vice President Robredo’s eldest daughter, Aika, sent a letter to NBI seeking the same help on similar fabricated sex videos.

“I had ordered the NBI to investigate the existence in the internet of certain obscene photos of allegedly the vice-president’s daughters even before they formally requested the NBI’s assistance,” Guevarra said.

“The cybercrime division is now working on it,” he added

He said he has also instructed the NBI “to file the appropriate charges, if warranted by the evidence, against those who may be found responsible for these malicious acts.”

In seeking NBI assistance, Tricia through her lawyer said that the posted lewd photos and videos violate Section 3(e) and Section 12 of the Safe Spaces Act.
