ITCZ, easterlies to bring scattered rains over E. Visayas, Caraga, Davao Oriental

(MANILA BULLETIN)

Expect scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over parts of Visayas and Mindanao in the next 24 hours because of the prevalence of the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) and easterlies, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Tuesday, April 26.

Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are expected to prevail over Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and Davao Oriental.

PAGASA warned against possible flash floods or landslides because of the occurrence of moderate to heavy rains.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have fair weather due to partly cloudy to cloudy skies.

In its extended weather outlook for key areas from April 27 to 30, PAGASA said that maximum air temperatures may reach 33-34 degrees Celsius (℃) in Metro Manila, 35-36℃ in Tuguegarao City, 25-26℃ in Baguio City, 30-31℃ in Tagaytay City, 32-33℃ in Puerto Princesa City, 31-32℃ in Metro Cebu, 32-33℃ in Metro Davao, and 32-33℃ in Zamboanga City.

PAGASA, however, said there remains a possibility of afternoon or evening rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

It advised the public to stay vigilant during severe thunderstorms, which are often associated with bursts of heavy rainfall, lightning, thunder, and gusty winds that usually last up to two hours, as these may trigger flash floods or landslides.
