The nationwide roll out for the second Covid-19 booster shot for immunocompromised adults began on Monday, April 25.
The rollout per city remains at the discretion of their respective local governments depending on their readiness to conduct the vaccination program.
The Department of Health (DOH) has approved on Tuesday, April 19, the Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, Sinovac, AstraZeneca, Sputnik Light, and Janssen vaccines for the second booster shot.
The country's Covid-19 vaccination program is being strengthened in line with the discovery of the highly transmissible sublineages of the Omicron variant, namely BA.4 and BA.5, which are being monitored and analyzed by the World Health Organization (WHO).
The DOH projected a possible increase in active Covid-19 cases in May, with projections reaching up to 500,000, if the minimum public health and safety standards will be neglected.
