Gov't forces ready if chaos ensues after elections — Palace

The government is ready to respond should there be an unfavorable situation that will arise after the announcement of the results of the election, Malacañang said Tuesday.

Communications Secretary Martin Andanar on Tuesday assured the public that law enforcers will ensure peace and order in the conduct of the elections.

He made the pronouncement in response to the concern raised that a chaos might ensue if frontrunning presidential bet Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. wins in the upcoming polls.

"Handa po ang ating pamahalaan at ang ating uniformed personnel na panatilihin ang kaayusan ng ating bansa (Our government and our uniformed personnel are prepared to ensure peace in the country)," Andanar said.

In his public address on Monday night, President Duterte also assured the public of a peaceful and orderly conduct of elections.

He also warned those who will incite violence that they will be fighting against the government, which is tasked by the Constitution to protect the public.
