No person deprived of liberty (PDL) tested positive for illegal drugs use at the Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm (SPPF) in Occidental Mindoro.

In a statement, SPPF said the random drug tests of PDLs were conducted at the Central Prison Compound by the facility’s personnel with operatives of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

“One hundred five (105) PDLs -- 101 at the Maximum Category and four at the Medium Category -- underwent random urine drug tests facilitated by SPPF Hospital Medical Team CO1 Rubie Rose Caballes and CO1 Vincent Managdag,” it said.

“The results showed that no PDL yielded positive for illegal drugs use,” it added.

Aside from drug testing, the SPPF said the joint personnel of the facility, the PNP and PDEA also conducted health search operations called “Greyhound” at the cells of the inmates in the Central Prison Compound.

“The ‘Greyhound’ operatives were able to confiscate bunch of contrabands like cellular phones (4 units of touchscreen and 6 units of keypad), portable WiFi (2), improvised bladed weapons (83), cellular phone chargers (9), headsets (3), USB flash drive (2), playing cards, lighters, bundles of tobacco cigars, rolled paper of tobacco, razor blades, and SIM cards,” SPPF said.

“Proper documentations through inventory recording and photography of the confiscated contrabands were done before handing over them to the Office of the Superintendent for Security and Operations for safekeeping and final disposition,” it added.
