Last month, the Comelec said more than 93,000 have applied for local absentee voting in the May 2022 polls.

Of the 93,567 verified applicants, 84,221 have been approved while 9,346 have been disapproved.

Those who applied are from the Philippine Army (32,786), Philippine Air Force (4,261), Philippine Navy (845), Philippine National Police (48,698), Dep Ed (3,075), Comelec (1,015), Department of Interior and Local Government (23), Philippine Coastguard (695), Department of Foreign Affairs (4), Philippine Information Agency (27), Bureau of Fire Protection (147), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (1,048), Philippine Military Academy (228), Culion Hospital (3), National Power Corporation (9), Public Attorney's Office (2), and Media (953).

Under the LAV, government officials and employees; personnel of the AFP and PNP; as well as members of the media, including their technical and support staff, are allowed to avail of local absentee voting.

This is as long as they are duly registered voters, whose registration records are not deactivated; and will be temporarily assigned to perform election duties or to cover and report on the conduct of elections in places where they are not registered voters.

LAV participants are set to vote for president, vice-president, senators and party-list representatives.
