NDRRMC: Typhoon ‘Agaton’ claims 2 more lives; total toll at 3


Two more persons were killed in Davao de Oro as Tropical Storm “Agaton” left a trail of destruction in Mindanao and continued its onslaught in Visayas, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) confirmed Monday, April 11.

The NDRRMC public information office said that two more people died in Monkayo town.

Joseph Rhandy Loy, head of the provincial DRRM office of Davao de Oro, said the fatalities were aged 65 and 67 year olds who drowned at the height of the bad weather in the province.

This brough the total death toll due to Agaton to three.

Earlier, the NDRRMC reported that an 83-year-old man also drowned due to flashflood triggered by heavy rains in Cateel, Davao Oriental.

More than 136,000 individuals were affected by Agaton in eight regions namely Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Davao, Soccsksargen, Caraga, and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
