Female cop battling breast cancer was 129th Covid fatality in the PNP


A 46-year old policewoman who has been battling breast cancer is the latest fatality of Covid-19 in the Philippine National Police (PNP).

PNP chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos said the female cop was from Cagayan Valley region and is the 129th fatality of the PNP since the start of the pandemic in 2020.

"The police officer had undergone a series of chemotherapy for breast cancer," said Carlos.

"On March 28, when inside her home, according to her daughter she vomited and then drew her last breath. The daughter called medical assistance and the said cop was declared dead on arrival in the hospital," he added.

The police officer was subjected to a post mortem examination and swab test, and the result was that she tested positive result of Covid-19.

She has completed her vaccine last November 2021.

A total of 48,729 cases have been reported in the PNP since 2020, only two of them are active cases.
