On the big screen, he may have been hefty, rough and hardened as he played roles of tough common men.

Yet, deep inside, the late film actor Ramon Revilla Sr. carried a soft spot for the arts. His children knew this, so that when it was brought up in one of the family meetings that an endowment in the field of education was to be assigned to nearby De La Salle University-Dasmarinas (DLSU-D), they were unanimous in choosing liberal arts as the primary beneficiary.

DLSU-D and the family of the late actor have agreed to establish the Don Ramon Revilla, Sr. Professional Chair in Liberal Arts and Communication.

The signing of the memorandum of agreement and the turn-over of the initial donation was held on March 8, 2022, at the courtyard of the College of Tourism and Hospitality Management building.

The event coincided with the 95th birthday of the late senator. Born Jose Acuna Bautista in Imus, Cavite, he is more popularly known for his screen name Ramon Revilla, Sr.

Considered as the King of True-to-Life Movies, his films showcased Cavite culture and Filipino folklore. The Revilla Sr. endowment fund is a gift from his children namely Marlon, Rowena, Ramon Jr., Rebecca, Strike, Andrea, and Diana Paterno.
