Gibo bats for 'culture of innovation' in gov't

A culture of innovation.

Senatorial Candidate Gibo Teodoro

That's what senatorial candidate and former Department of National Defense (DND) secretary Gilbert "Gibo" Teodoro wants to promote in government in a bid to improve its service to Filipinos.

Teodoro said that while the government urges businesses to invest in emerging and disruptive technologies, the public sector should also apply these innovations to streamline bureaucratic processes and help in decision-making as well as designing future policies.

“Innovation in government is beyond purchasing and using new technologies. It is also capacitating our human capital and investing in research and development,” the former Tarlac congressman and 1989 Bar topnotcher said.

Teodoro supports the enhanced funding for the “Balik Scientist” program of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST). Such endeavors would help in creating an innovaion culture in the government, he said.

“The government also needs to step up in investing in financial technology, biotechnology, and cybersecurity, among others. This can revolutionize the way we commonly do things in the public sector,” added the UniTeam Senate slate member.
