Candidates for local positions in Muntinlupa City launched their respective campaigns on March 25 to woo voters in the May 9 elections.
The One Muntinlupa political party led by congressional bet Jaime Fresnedi, mayoral candidate Ruffy Biazon and reelectionist Vice Mayor Artemio Simundac together with their candidates for councilors in Districts 1 and 2 kicked off their campaign with a prayer service on March 25.
They were supposed to hold a motorcade after the religious service but canceled it due to a fire that hit a residential area in Alabang, Muntinlupa on March 24.
“We are sad to tell our colleagues and supporters who prepared to join and welcome the motorcade that because of the fire that happened last night in Purok 7C, Alabang, our party decided to cancel the motorcade out of respect and sympathy for the fire victims,” announced Biazon.
Biazon, the incumbent congressman, is running for mayor in Muntinlupa against Red Mariñas of the People’s Reform Party (PRP), and independent candidates Nelson Benjamin and Oscar Marmeto.
Fresnedi, who is in his third and last term as mayor, is aiming to win as congressman of Muntinlupa against Silverio Garing of PDP-Laban.
Simundac is gunning for reelection as vice mayor against Oyo Boy Dioko of PRP.
