Children must learn sex education in schools, Pacquiao explains why

Presidential candidate Manny Pacquiao said Friday, March 25 that sex education must be taught in schools to address problem of rising teenage pregnancy.

During the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) election forum, Pacquiao said that "if parents have raised their children well," they would be no instances of teenage pregnancy.

"Tamang pag-educate sa kanila, tamang pagmulat sa kanilang mga mata (Proper education and awareness are necessary)," he said.

But Pacquiao said he understands that some parents are too busy with providing for their children's needs, that is why they are not able to educate them properly.

"Kailangan din doon din sa school ituturo din sa kanila kung ano ang kahalagahan at masama ang mga bagay na ayan (The importance of sex education needs to be taught to them in school, and that teenage pregnancy is bad)," he said,

"Dapat ituro na ngayon sa school 'yung mga sex education sa mga bata (Sex education must be taught in schools to kids)," he added.
