More than P31.5 million worth of ‘counterfeit’ shoes and slippers which were passed on as original “Nike” footwear have been confiscated from a warehouse in Cabanatuan City in Nueva Ecija.

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), in a statement issued on Sunday, March 20, said the seizure last March 10 of “20,914 pairs of counterfeit Nike slides/slippers and 42 pairs of Nike shoes with a total estimated value of P31,581,000” was done by operatives who enforced a search warrant issued by the Manila regional trial court (RTC).

It said the warehouse is located along Gen. Trias Extension in Barangay H.

“Charges for violation of Section 155 (Trademark Infringement) in relation to Section 170 of Republic Act No. 8293 (Intellectual Property Code) will be filed against Martin G. Sy and/other proprietors, officers, employees, and/or occupants of the warehouse,” it said.
