Flash Express and UnionBank forged partnership to provide MSMEs with business and digital solutions

Flash Express, the Philippines' fastest-growing courier and logistics service provider, and Union Bank of the Philippines (UnionBank), Asia's leading digital trailblazer in banking and technology, have signed an agreement to provide online business solutions to Filipino MSMEs, particularly online sellers and E-commerce entrepreneurs.

As the demand for E-commerce has increased in recent years as a result of the pandemic, Flash Express has exponentially raised the standard of the logistics industry, disrupting the courier business in the country by providing tech-driven and world-class pro-business logistics solutions.

UnionBank enters the fray with the same goal in mind: to elevate the position of MSMEs through digital solutions. UnionBank's new product innovations, such as the MSME Business Banking mobile application, UnionBank GlobalLinker, UPAY for MSMEs, and digital onboarding, demonstrate this. These innovations bring MSMEs closer to banking services that were previously unavailable to them. The goal is to TECH UP businesses in the Philippines by securing MSMEs ecosystems for the future.

“It’s a partnership that is bound to happen,” said UnionBanks’ Vice President and SME and Microprenuers Segments Head for Customer Experience Group, Jaypee Soliman during the signing of the MOA held at Flash Express office in Taguig City, Manila last March 9, 2022.

“It has been our mission in UnionBank to power businesses through innovation, solutions, and technology. We need partners who are experts in the domains that our clients, the MSMes, cater also. Flash Express has the expertise in logistics. This is a union of the same minds, of same goals, and advocacies. Flash Express will bring the technology of logistics and UnionBank brings in the technology for banking and settlements. Combined, we will be able to tap more MSMEs and grow their businesses further through our robust courier and banking solutions,” he added.

Flash Express Spokesperson and Head of Legal & Compliance, Atty. Sherry Lou Bernabe, stated that the company considers itself extremely fortunate to have UnionBank as a partner. In fact, she stated that Flash Express is grateful for the opportunity provided by UnionBank to be featured on the bank's online marketplace.

“Flash Express and UnionBank, two giants in digital technology, one in logistics and banking. UnionBank has been with us from Day 1, from the time we set foot in the Philippines. It is an honor and my privilege, on behalf of Flash Express, to be partnering with UnionBank,” Atty. Bernabe mentioned this as she acknowledged the presence of officials from both companies as well as members of the media at the program.

Flash Express continues to reach new heights in just six months with more customers switching from other courier companies since October last year.

“We have grown our shipper customers from 220 to 620 and still counting. With this, we can truly say that more people are trusting and choosing Flash Express,” said Flash Express General Manager, John de Guzman-Tarampi.

The Flash Express and UnionBank partnership will help create more opportunities for Filipino MSMEs to speed up their businesses through UnionBank’s marketplace platform, access to financial assistance, and to Flash Express’ logistics services with ease and complete integration to MSME online business platform.
