The Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) on Friday, Feb. 25, urged Filipinos “not to forget what the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution stands for.”

“EDSA People Power Revolution stands against the battle of tyranny and oppression, and the triumph of the human spirit and love of freedom,” IBP President Burt M. Estrada said in a statement.

“Since then, we have met and overcome many challenges as a nation,” he pointed out.

The country commemorates today, Feb. 25, the 36th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution on Friday.

“May the EDSA People power continue to inspire all Filipinos to work in solidarity to achieve peace, stability and progress mindful to remain steadfast defenders of the freedoms already achieved,” Estrada said.

He pointed out that the days ahead will be “a turning point in our people’s history.”

“More than ever, we must be vigilant to defend our democracy,” he stressed.
