The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) has stopped the construction of a gas station within the reservation of the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City.
In a statement, BuCor said that the construction of the Shell fuel station along the MCX road within the reservation did not have any coordination or approval from the bureau.
“This construction of a gasoline station is a direct safety and security risk since the Bureau was not consulted in its inception and the establishment of such facility that would store highly flammable commodity puts in peril future land development plans of this agency which may involve training facilities such as firing range, ammunition depot and communication facilities in that area,” BuCor said.
“The BuCor administration under the leadership of Director General Gerald Q. Bantag served a notice to stop construction of a Shell Fuel Station along the MCX road which is within the NBP Reservation due to Non-Coordination with BuCor authorities,” it said.
It then called on owners of businesses within the NBP reservation “to secure permits to operate.”
It said it notices were given to owners of all micro business enterprises (MBEs) inside the reservation “who have no application for permit that they are given three (3) days to file their application.”
