Chavit pledges to deliver 90 percent of Ilocos Sur votes to Bongbong-Sara tandem

Narvacan, Ilocos Sur Mayor Chavit Singson has pledged to deliver 90 percent of the total votes of Ilocos Sur to the tandem of presidential candidate Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. and aspiring vice president Sara Duterte-Carpio in the upcoming May 2022 polls.

Singson, former Ilocos Sur governor and president of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines, said residents from all the towns of the province will vote for Marcos Jr. and Duterte-Carpio.

"Dahil nagkaisa na ang lahat ng mga opisyales at hindi lang 'yan, ang nauna ay 'yung mga volunteer sumunod na lang ang karamihan ng mga elected official, 'di lang dito (Ilocos Sur), sa buong bansa. Umikot na ako being the president of the League of Mayors of the Philippines. Ganun lahat, mga volunteer ang nangunguna, sumusunod na lang 'yung mga elected official (All the officials have united, even our volunteers not only from Ilocos Sur but from across the country. I even roamed around as president of the League of Mayors of the Philippines. That's what's happening—volunteers ensure their support and are followed by officials)," Singson told reporters in an ambush interview after Marcos Jr.'s grand rally at the Quirino Stadium on Thursday.

Chavit, father of current Ilocos Sur Gov. Ryan Luis Singson, assured the alliance of Marcos Jr. and Duterte-Carpio an "all-out support," including resources.

Officials of the provincial government of Ilocos Sur also declared their support to Marcos Jr. after their counterpart from Ilocos Norte, headed by Gov. Matthew Joseph Marcos Manotoc, committed their vote to the tandem.

Marcos Jr. continued his Ilocos campaign on Thursday through a motorcade that passed through the municipalities of Bad, Sinait, Cabugao, San Juan, Magsingal, Sto. Domingo, San Ildefonso, Bantay and Narvacan. He also held two proclamation rallies at Quirino Stadium in Bantay town and in Narvacan.
