Vice President Leni Robredo’s supporters are as witty and creative as ever following their successful “Pink Sunday” rally Tuesday, Feb. 15 in Aklan, one of the provinces of Panay Island that's widely regarded as her party’s stronghold.
Aklanons turned witty with their handmade posters as Robredo toured the province and met with supporters during the assembly of the Robredo People’s Council (RPC) there.
A handmade poster by a differently abled senior citizen displaying the words, “Nawala man and mga paa ko... Matalino naman ako sa pagboto (I may have lost my feet, but I vote wisely)” stood out in the sea of pink-clad supporters that welcomed Robredo in Kalibo, Aklan.
Another supporter held a large handmade placard that read “Jowa".
This was captured by another supporter who captioned the photo, “Sa gobyernong tapat, magkakajowa lahat (In an honest government, everybody will have significant others).”
This was not the first time that her supporters turned witty with their placards and posters.
During the “Pink Sunday” rally in Quezon City, which happened a day before Valentine’s Day, some of her younger supporters held posters saying they would prioritize having her as president over having a partner for Valentine’s.
One of the placards read, “Di bale na walang rosas sa Valentine’s, basta may rosas sa May 9 (It’s okay not to have roses for Valentine’s, as long as there are roses on May 9).” May 9 is of course the day of the elections.
The rose alludes to Robredo after her campaign team said the flower will be her official campaign symbol. One of her catchphrases is, “Kulay rosas ang bukas (Tomorrow is colored pink).”
Couples also said they had to forego their planned Valentine’s dates and went to the “Pink Sunday” rally instead to show their support for the Vice President.
Robredo visited Panay Island, the Liberal Party’s (LP) stronghold in Western Visayas where the Vice President won by landslide in 2016, to campaign with her running mate Senator Kiko Pangilinan and their senatorial slate. This included lawyers Alex Lacson, Chel Diokno; and reelectionist Senator Dick Gordon.

Former Magdalo Rep. Gary Alejano was also there to represent former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, as well as lawyer Dino De Leon, the representative of detained Senator Leila de Lima.
Robredo, the lone female presidential candidate, lamented the alleged disinformation drive against her and asked her supporters "to go out of their echo chambers" and spread the truth as they still have 84 days before the May polls.
The aspiring president asked them not to fight among themselves and with others, but instead be more patient and understanding.
“Ang tanging puwede nating ilaban sa kasinungalingan, katotohanan. Wala pong mangyayari kung makikipag-away tayo. Sino ba dito 'yung mga nakikipag-away? Parang maraming guilty? Huwag na huwag na po natin 'yang gagawin (The only thing we can use to fight the lies with is the truth. Nothing will happen if we will fight each other. Who here are fighting others? There seems to be a lot who are guilty? Let’s never do that),” Robredo said.
“Kaya ba nating lumuwas sa sarili nating mga circles para mag-reach out sa iba na hindi pa natin nakakausap? Kung ang sagot po natin sa lahat ay ‘oo’, mananalo po tayo (Can we go out of our own circles to reach out to those we haven’t talked with yet? If our answer us ‘yes,’ we will win),” she stressed.
