Shear line, 'amihan' to bring cloudy skies, rain showers over parts of PH this weekend

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) is not expecting a weather disturbance to affect the country but the shear line and the northeast monsoon may bring rain showers over some areas this weekend.

"Throughout the outlook period, Feb. 11 to 18, no tropical cyclone development is expected. , this outlook will be updated if significant changes in the weather scenario occur," PAGASA said.

In its weekly weather outlook issued on Friday, Feb 11, PAGASA said that cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the shear line will prevail over Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and Davao Region until Sunday, Feb. 13.

The northeast monsoon or "amihan" may also affect Luzon and bring cloudy skies and light rains over Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, and Quezon, while "generally fair weather conditions apart from isolated light rains" may prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

PAGASA said the rest of the country will have generally fair weather conditions apart from isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

By Monday until Wednesday, Feb. 14 to 16, the shear line will likely dissipate but frontal system will move southward from Batanes and bring cloudy skies and rains over Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Quezon, and Bicol region, PAGASA said.

Meanwhile, the State weather bureau said that Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have generally fair weather conditions apart from isolated light rains due to the amihan.

Visayas and Mindanao may experience generally fair weather conditions apart from isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

By Thursday until Friday, Feb. 17 to 18, PAGASA said the amihan may bring cloudy skies and rains over Batanes, Cagayan, and Ilocos Norte, while Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have generally fair weather conditions apart from isolated light rains.

"Expect generally fair weather conditions apart from some isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Visayas and Mindanao," it said.
