Magnitude 4.0 quake rocks Aurora -- Phivolcs

(PHIVOLCS)

A 4.0-magnitude earthquake hit Aurora province at around 7:16 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 5, said the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

The epicenter of the earthquake was traced 6 kilometers (km) southwest of Dilasag, Aurora and at a depth of 33 kilometers.

It was “moderately strong” at Intensity IV in Maddela, Quirino.

Phivolcs' instruments also recorded the quake at Intensity II in Santiago, Isabela and Intensity I in Baler, Aurora.

It said the earthquake was tectonic in origin, which means it was caused by the movement of an active fault near the area.

However, Phivolcs does not expect damage to property or aftershocks due to this earthquake.
