The actor is a model of Bleu De Chanel cologne and is part of the cast on Marvel Studios’ upcoming series.

An award-winning French actor, Gaspard Ulliel, died Wednesday from a skiing accident.

Ulliel “was in Savoie region’s Rosiere ski area when the accident occurred, according to the Savoie prosecutor’s office,” reported the Washington Post.

The 37-year-old actor’s death comes a day after the trailer for Marvel’s “Moon Knight” debuted. The show is the latest superhero series slated to air on the Disney + channel this coming March 2022. He plays Anton Mogart in the Marvel flick.

Gaspard is a popular and respected actor in French cinema who earned several Cesar nominations (the French equivalent of the Oscars). One of his early successes came from his role in “A Very Long Engagement” which earned him the Most Promising Actor Cesar.

He also starred opposite Marion Cotillard, Vincent Cassel and Lea Seydoux in “It’s Only The End Of The World” back in 2016. The film debuted at the Cannes Film Festival.

“Gaspard belonged to this new generation of actors who were making tomorrow’s French cinema. He knew how to select his roles and shaped his career which filled every promise. Each appearance on the red carpet, from ‘La Princesse de Montpensier’ to ‘It’s Only The End Of The World’ illustrated his presence, both discrete and full of kindness. He was equally brilliant and talented. He gave a lot and we’ll always remember him,” Cannes Film Festival director Thierry Fremaux, said to Variety.

The French Prime Minister wrote on his Twitter, “Gaspard Ulliel grew up with cinema and cinema grew with him. They loved each other madly. It is with a heavy heart that we will no longer see the most beautiful interpretations. We have lost a French actor.”

Gaspard also starred in “Mathilde” with Audrey Tautou, Julie Depardieu and Marion Cotillard (2004), and “Hannibal Rising” (2007) as well as playing Yves Saint Laurent in the biopic “Saint Laurent” (2014).

Gaspard’s high profile part as the face of Bleu de Chanel enabled the actor to work with Martin Scorsese, who directed the commercial. “You don’t get a lot of opportunities to meet huge American directors like this, when you’re a French actor. I’m usually working in France. It felt like I was in a movie, not a commercial,” said UIliel of his experience. The actor also worked with “12 Years A Slave” director Steve McQueen in another Chanel commercial.
