Mober, a Filipino tech-logistics business, has reaffirmed their commitment to reducing carbon emissions by partnering with IKEA, a home furnishings retailer, for last-mile electric vehicle delivery.
On November 25, IKEA launched its largest shop in the world in Manila, welcome customers to their new 66,000 square meter facility. IKEA has set a goal to deliver 100% electric vehicles by 2030, with online orders now accounting for a substantial amount of the company's sales.
Mober's electric delivery fleet has a 250-kilometer service coverage radius and serves Metro Manila. Mober’s electric delivery van is the first in the Philippines.
Mober, a forerunner in same-day delivery, began as an on-demand delivery tool to assist SMEs with their logistical difficulties. Since its inception, the company has been a forerunner in the logistics industry, assisting SMEs that needed to transport goods but lacked access to a delivery vehicle.
Following the tremendous success of the app, and after observing the underutilization of many delivery vans and the traffic congestion, Mober launched a "hub" model called Enterprise. Instead of having their delivery partners roam around and using up more fuel, Mober's Enterprise consolidates all their same day deliveries with a Hub. The hub model also enables Mober drivers to accept assignments five days in advance. Today, Mober is available in 80 malls in the Philippines, serving hundreds of stores.
IKEA Philippines is committed to making all its home deliveries through electric vehicles – as soon as is possible and no later than 2030. IKEA Philippines Manager, Georg Platzer, said: “We are working with our transport partners to support this goal. With the first electric vehicle from Mober for instance, we lower harmful emissions as we deliver home furnishing solutions from our store to the customers’ homes. This is our small collaborative start to tackle climate change and clean transport.”

Schuler added ‘With Mober, we are just getting started on our journey. We are still working toward securing sustainable alternatives to the big trucks we need to deliver large furniture. We hope to see more innovations soon.’
Like IKEA, Mober has its own plans to reduce carbon emissions. In fact, plans are afoot to secure a mixed fleet of 100 units of electric vans and trucks by 2030. CEO and Founder of Mober, Dennis Ng, said: “Our goal with our new electric van fleet is to reduce carbon emissions. We are delighted to be collaborating with retail giants like IKEA that are as committed to the reduction of carbon emissions as we are. Ng had a bigger aim than just easing traffic congestion. Ng wanted the company's carbon footprint to be reduced. As a result, in October 2021, Mober took a significant step toward sustainability by purchasing its first electric delivery fleet. This was a timely step that led to the partnership with IKEA Philippines to supply costumers with electric delivery services.
Now that they are on their way to sustainability, Mober has plans to further reduce their carbon emissions with a 100% electric fleet by 2030. The company is looking to partner with organizations who are passionate about carbon footprint to fund this EV fleet, which will include 100 units of mixed electric vans and 4.5 tons lorries.
