Construction of new Navotas City college building starts

The construction of a new four-storey building for the Navotas Polytechnic College (NPC) has begun, Navotas District Representative John Rey Tiangco announced on Friday, Jan. 14. Cong. Tiango said the larger and more modern building will aid in facilitating a better environment for learning as well as in delivering a more holistic, inclusive, and high-quality education in NPC.

The project is being implemented by the Navotas City local government, the Office of the Congressman, and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

The new building will have 28 classrooms, nine laboratories for speech, computer, and science subjects; a research and publication room, a library, an audio-visual room, and a multi-purpose room.

There will also be a medical and dental clinic, a canteen, an indoor gymnasium or basketball court, and outdoor sports and activity areas such as a volleyball court and a badminton court.

Other features will include indoor and outdoor study areas, an indoor garden, an atrium, and a roof deck.

Navotas City Mayor Toby Tiangco said once the construction of the new NPC building is finished, the city government may be able to open other free courses in the school.

NPC offers scholarships and other financial assistance programs to students pursuing tertiary, masteral or doctoral education through the Unified Financial Assistance System for Tertiary Education Act (UniFAST) or Republic Act No. 10687 under the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
