Chef Gordon Ramsay’s ‘Next Level Chef’ show reimagines reality TV with new concept

The celebrity chef brings a new kind of culinary drama

You’ve known him from “Hell’s Kitchen.” Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay is back as he presents a new set of culinary hopefuls and kitchen drama with his latest reality TV competition series “Next Level Chef.”

“What makes the ‘Next Level Chef’ for me a stand out is that it is new and vibrant,” Ramsay describes the show. And he is not kidding about the “new” element. Together with chefs Nyesha Arrington and Richard Blais, Ramsay will mentor the show’s contestants as they battle it out in not just one but three kitchens.

Yes, the series isn’t called “next level’ for no reason. The tri-level cooking arena is composed of different kinds of kitchens stacked on top of each other, according to their unique characteristics. On top is a start-of-the-art space, a culinary heaven for any chef. In the middle is a standard commercial kitchen. And at the bottom, the basement, is a humble kitchen, giving a different challenge for the chef-contestants to whip up their dishes.

Adding to the challenge is an elevator full of ingredients. Think of its concept as “The Platform” movie on Netflix (if you haven’t seen it, watch it now), chefs on the top-level get first dibs on everything while the ones on the basement get whatever items are left on the platform.

“It is all about bringing every exciting level across the culinary world into three amazing kitchens,” Ramsay says. “It is paced with adrenaline and you got to think quick.”

“Next Level Chef” premiered last Jan. 2, 2022 on Fox.
