The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) urged on Tuesday, Jan. 4, all the individuals who had close contacts with Gwyneth Anne Chua , especially those who were infected, to file separate cases against her for violating the quarantine protocol that compromised their safety.
This, CIDG director Maj. Gen. Albert Ignatius Ferro confirmed that they have already filed the case of violating Republic Act 11332 (Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act) before the Makati City Prosecutor's Office against Chua, her parents, her boyfriend and five other persons.
"That is the right of our kababayan especially if they were infected that put their life in danger. That's why we are encouraging those who have been infected to proceed upon clearance from health officials, to file cases," said Ferro.
POlice Col. Randy Glenn Silvio, director of the CIDG-National Capital Region, said the boyfriend of Chua was included in the charge sheet after it was confirmed that they stayed together in one of a business establishments Chua had visited at a time when she was supposed to be under quarantine.
"We obtained a CCTV footage showing that they were together at the Mijo Restaurant. The boyfriend of Chua should have reported the incident, knowing that she was suppoed to be under quarantine during that time," said Silvio.
Chua arrived on Dec. 22 and was fetched by her parents at the Berjaya Makati Hotel. She was seen in a bar and a restaurant on Dec. 23 and on Dec. 25, she was taken back to the Berjaya Hotel.
On Dec. 26, Chua tested positive for the coronavirus.
Ferrosa said they are now looking into the allegations that Chua bribed some personnel of the Berjaya Hotel, the reason why she was able to go out and that the incident was not reported to the authorities.
Based on the rules, it is the responsibility of the quarantine hotel staff to inform the authorities if someone under quarantine in their establishments is not present.
Ferro also said that they have not established that Chua used her connections in the government to skip quarantine.
