The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) proved that it is indeed the season of giving by bestowing early presents to six Aeta families in Barangay Putingkahoy, Rosario, Batangas.

Each of the six Aeta families received five goats which they can nurture and reproduce.

Aside from it being a “unique” way to help the indigenous peoples (IPs), the commission said that among the objectives of the project was to “spark the spirit of giving”, instructing the IPs to share the offspring of the said goats with other members of the Aeta community.

NCIP likewise added that a short training on goat care was held to educate the IPs.

Meanwhile, the commission said that the project was successfully launched in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture (DA) in region IV-A.

The early gift-giving was held on Dec. 17, exactly eight days before Christmas day. (Charie Mae F. Abarca)
