Nine incumbent Metro Manila mayors met with vice presidential aspirant and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio for lunch on Wednesday at a hotel in Ortigas Center in Pasig City.
Present during the meeting were: Mayor Edwin Olivarez of Parañaque, Mayor Oca Malapitan of Caloocan, Mayor Toby Tiangco of Navotas, Mayor Francis Zamora of San Juan, Mayor Marcy Teodoro of Marikina, Mayor Rex Gatchalian of Valenzuela, Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano of Pasay, Mayor Menchie Abalos of Mandaluyong and Mayor Abby Binay of Makati.
Aside from mayors, other high-ranking local government unit officials who met the presidential daughter were: Las Piñas Vice Mayor April Aguilar, Pasig Vice Mayor Iyo Caruncho Bernardo and Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Benhur Abalos.
"Maraming salamat po sa inyong suporta at pagkakaibigan (Thanks guys for your support and friendship)," Duterte-Carpio said in a Facebook post Thursday.
The vice presidential candidate's party, Hugpong ng Pagbabago, has not disclosed yet what was discussed during the meeting.
But in their separate, subsequent Facebook posts on Wednesday, Gatchalian and Zamora publicly announced their support to Duterte-Carpio's bid to become the second highest official of the country.
"This coming national elections I am supporting the Vice Presidential Candidacy of Mayor Inday Duterte," Gatchalian said.
"Lunch with my Vice President Sara Duterte," Zamora said.
