Bulacan Gov. Daniel Fernando urged all Bulakenyos to pray to Mama Mary for an end to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Today is a special non-working holiday in commemoration of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary, and I am appealing to all Bulakenyos to pray graciously by asking the help of Mother Mary to end COVID-19 that has greatly distressed human beings in many countries,” Fernando said.
He said millions of people have perished from the COVID-19 and in order to get back to normal life, the coronavirus “should vanish so that every people, especially the children could, can smile again, hug their loved ones without worrying about spreading or getting the virus.
Fernando said that every year, Catholic churches in many countries celebrate the feast of the Immaculate Conception. Employees who will work today are entitled to 30-percent extra pay.
Based on Republic Act No. 10966 signed in 2017, the government declared December 8 of every year as a special non-working holiday in the nation.
