The Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) is inviting Filipino students to join its advanced space scholarships program.

PhilSA said “Advanced Degrees for Accelerating Strategic Space R&D Applications (AD ASTRA)” scholarships are available to Filipino students who have completed their Bachelor’s Degree and are pursuing postgraduate studies in Space Science, Technology, and Applications (SSTA) as well as its allied fields in local or international higher educational institutions (HEIs).
AD ASTRA aims to provide financial assistance to outstanding students who are aiming to pursue a doctoral degree in fields related to Space Science, Technology, and Applications (SSTA).
“PhilSA AD ASTRA offers full, partial, lateral, and sandwich program scholarships to promising students pursuing advanced degrees in disciplines related to SSTA,” PhilSA said in a statement.
It added that eligible applicants must not be more than 45 years old at the time of application, and not more than 50 years old for stand-alone sandwich programs. PhilSA also reiterated that an applicant must be a Filipino citizen with good physical health, of good moral character, and does not have a criminal case.
Moreover, the agency stated that candidates for the scholarship program must have a relevant Bachelor’s Degree, a dissertation plan in line with priority areas identified by the Scholarship Committee, and must have been accepted to their host institution or university.
For local studies, applicants must have passed any CHED-recognized HEI, while government employees must have passed the internal scholarship process of their agency.
The deadline for applications is on Dec. 15, 2021 for the first batch, and May 2, 2022 for the second batch.
“Join the mission and apply now! Send your complete application to scholarships@philsa.gov.ph. Only applicants with complete requirements will be considered,” PhilSA said. (Charie Mae F. Abarca)
