4.0-magnitude quake hits Antique -- Phivolcs

A magnitude 4.0 earthquake hit Antique province at around 8:49 p.m., Monday, Nov. 22, said the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

The epicenter of the earthquake was traced 14 kilometers (km) northeast of Tibiao, Antique, at a shallow depth of 5 km.

Phivolcs said it was felt as a "weak" tremor at Intensity III in the municipality of Tibiao.

It describes the vibration of a weak tremor like the passing of a light truck and is felt by many people indoors, especially on upper floors or buildings.

Phivolcs' instruments also detected the earthquake at Intensity III in Culasi, Antique; Intensity II in Valderrama, Antique; and Intensity I in San Jose de Buenavista, Antique.

It said the earthquake was tectonic in origin, which means it was caused by the movement of an active fault near the area.

However, Phivolcs noted that damage to property or aftershocks due to this earthquake was not expecte
