PBA 3x3 to hold draw proceedings for 13 teams; Opening set on Nov. 20


The PBA will formally launch its inaugural 3x3 tournament with a draw proceedings on Saturday, Nov. 13.

Thirteen teams are going to be split into different groups for the first leg which starts Nov. 20 at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, Cavitex (NLEX), Limitless App (Phoenix), Meralco, NorthPort, Purefoods (Magnolia), Sista (Rain or Shine), San Miguel Beer, Terrafirma and TNT are among the participants that came from PBA member teams while the rest of the field are guest squads Pioneer, Platinum and Zamboanga.

Players previously listed in the PBA roster are set to play in the 3x3, namely Cavitex’s Larry Fonacier, NorthPort’s LA Revilla, Sista’s Prince Rivero and TNT’s Almond Vosotros.

Former PBA player Dylan Ababou, who had stints in the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3x3, will suit up for guest team Platinum.

Fil-foreigners Brandon Rosser and Jeremiah Gray are slated to piay for Limitless and TNT.

Rosser and Grey are hoping to use the 3x3 to prepare themselves for next year’s PBA Draft after the league relaxed its rules on incoming Fil-foreign cagers beginning in 2022.

PBA 3x3 chairman Dickie Bachmann said the upcoming tourney is the first of six two-day legs followed by a grand final.

Like in the regular PBA season during pre-pandemic times, the 3x3 will also feature three conferences.
