Close collaboration between government prosecutors and law enforcers is the key to prosecuting crimes, said Prosecutor General Benedicto A. Malcontento on Thursday, Nov. 11, during the annual command conference held by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

“The Prosecutor General reiterated that the key to effective prosecution is collaboration and good relationship between the prosecution and the law enforcement agencies (LEA), including the NBI,” the Office of the Prosecutor General (OPG) said in a statement.

The command conference was attended by NBI officials led by NBI Officer-in-Charge Director Eric B. Distor. The NBI will celebrate its 85th founding anniversary on Nov. 13.

Malcontento told the NBI that the Department of Justice (DOJ) is “the Most Trusted National Government Agency with a trust rating of 68% in a survey conducted in July 2020.”

“This shall serve as an inspiration to the NBI, an attached agency of the DOJ, to continuously work hard to maintain excellence in service,” he said.

In his speech, Malcontento also stressed the fight against corruption, the good practices in effective collaboration, and the do’s and don’t’s in preparing a complaint.
