SWS: COVID-19 vaccinations highest in Metro Manila, lowest in Visayas

Thirty-five percent of adult Filipinos or about 25 million individuals have already received at least one dose of vaccine against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19)--with Metro Manila having the highest and the Visayas having the lowest vaccination rates, based on a Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey conducted from Sept. 27 to 30.

The results of the non-commissioned survey conducted among 1,500 respondents nationwide found 25 percent or about 17.7 million Filipinos already done with their second dose and 10 percent or about 7.3 million done with their first dose.

"This is an estimated 42.7 million doses of vaccines administered (computed by adding the 35.4 million doses used on the estimated 17.7 million adults who already received their second dose and 7.3 million doses used on adults who already received their first dose) at the time of the survey," SWS said in a report released on Sunday, Nov. 7.

"These survey estimates are comparable to the Department of Health's tally of 44.7 million doses administered as of Sept. 28, 2021," it pointed out.

Vaccinated adults up in all areas in past 3 months

SWS said the percentage of adults already inoculated with at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine was highest in Metro Manila (71 percent), followed by Balance Luzon (36 percent), Mindanao (25 percent), and the Visayas (21 percent).

"Compared to June 2021, the percentage of those who received at least one dose rose in Metro Manila, up by 44 points from 27 percent (5 percent done with a second dose, 21 percent done with a first dose, correctly rounded) to 71 percent (61 percent done with a second dose, 10 percent done with a first dose)," it said.

It also increase in Balance Luzon, up by 28 points from 8 percent (3 percent done with a second dose, 5 percent done with a first dose) to 36 percent (22 percent done with a second dose, 13 percent done with a first dose, correctly rounded).

Moreover, it rose in the Visayas, up by 14 points from 7 percent (1 percent done with a second dose, 5 percent done with a first dose, correctly rounded) to 21 percent (15 percent done with a second dose, 6 percent done with a first dose).

It also went up in Mindanao, up by 15 points from 6 percent (3 percent done with a second dose, 3 percent done with a first dose) to 25 percent (16 percent done with a second dose, 8 percent done with a first dose, correctly rounded).
