The percentage of Filipinos who are willing to get vaccinated against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has doubled in the past four months, the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey results released on Friday, Nov. 5, showed.

The non-commissioned survey, which was conducted from Sept. 27 to 30 with 1,200 adult respondents, found that 64 percent of Filipinos are willing to get vaccinated--consisting of 25 percent already done with a second dose, 10 percent done with a first dose, 23 percent saying they will surely get vaccinated, and 6 percent saying they will probably get vaccinated.

Meanwhile, 19 percent said they are uncertain and 18 percent said they are unwilling (4 percent probably not and 14 percent surely not) to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

"The latest percentage of those willing to get vaccinated is nine points above the 55 percent (10 percent done with at least one dose, 36 percent surely, 9 percent probably) in June 2021. It is twice as high as the 32 percent (23 percent surely, 9 percent probably) in May 2021, when SWS first surveyed about it," the pollster said in a statement.

"At the same time, those uncertain about getting vaccinated fell from 24 percent in June 2021 and 35 percent in May 2021, while those unwilling fell from 21 percent (3 percent probably not, 18 percent surely not) in June 2021 and 33 percent (7 percent probably not, 26 percent surely not) in May 2021," it added.

The respondents were particularly asked: "If you have a chance to be given a free vaccine that can prevent COVID-19 which has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration or FDA, would you... Surely get vaccinated; Probably get vaccinated; Be unsure about getting vaccinated; Probably not get vaccinated; Surely not get vaccinated?"

Willingness to get evident in all areas

Compared to June 2021, SWS said the percentage of those willing to get vaccinated rose in Metro Manila, up by 11 points from 76 percent (5 percent done with a second dose, 21 percent done with a first dose, 41 percent surely, 8 percent probably, correctly rounded) to 87 percent (61 percent done with a second dose, 10 percent done with a first dose, 11 percent surely, 5 percent probably).

It also rose in Balance Luzon, up by 11 points from 54 percent (3 percent done with a second dose, 5 percent done with a first dose, 37 percent surely, 9 percent probably) to 65 percent (22 percent done with a second dose, 13 percent done with a first dose, 24 percent surely, 5 percent probably, correctly rounded).
