Independent research group OCTA on Monday, Oct. 18, said the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) situation in Metro Manila continues to improve, as seen in the declining number of new infections and hospitalizations.
Metro Manila averaged 1,448 COVID-19 cases per day over the last seven days, OCTA Research fellow Dr. Guido David said in a Twitter post.
He noted that the 1,159 new cases on Sunday, Oct. 17, was the lowest since July 28.
Moreover, Metro Manila's positivity rate, which refers to the number of people who test positive given the testing, was down to 9 percent.
"The last time the positivity rate was 9 percent was from July 23 to July 29," David said.
The OCTA expert also observed a continuous downtrend in reproduction number and healthcare and intensive care unit (ICU) utilization rates in Metro Manila.
"Reproduction number is at 0.57 while healthcare utilization rate is at 44 percent and ICU occupancy is at 59 percent," David added.
He pointed out that Metro Manila's current average daily attack rate (ADAR) or infection rate also declined to 10.23 cases per 100,000 population.
